Christ Deemed to be University
Christ (Deemed-to-be-University) made a humble beginning in 1969 as Christ College with four programmed, 379 students, 20 teaching and 8 non-teaching staff. Postgraduate courses were offered by the university from 1990, onwards.
Christ University has the rare distinction of being the first institution in Karnataka to be accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 1998. In 2004, the University Grants Commission (UGC) conferred Christ College with autonomy and in 2006 it was identified as an Institution with Potential for Excellence. Further, in 2008 the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India declared it as a ‘Deemed-to-be-University.
Christ University is a deemed private university. It is the first indigenous Syrian Catholic religious congregation in India. The University is specifically known for its undergraduate courses and has ranked among the top ten for UG courses in surveys done by the India Today group. Every year, more than 16000 students enroll in various UG and PG programs offered at Christ University. Admission to the courses is based on the entrance exam conducted by the university except for MBA. For MBA it considers CAT, MAT, GMAT, CMAT, XAT, or ATMA Scores.
The university has five campuses which are:
- Christ University, Bengaluru Central Campus
- Christ University, Bannerghatta Road Campus
- Christ University, Kengeri Campus
- Christ University, Delhi-NCR Campus
- Christ University, Pune-Lavasa Campus
